WHAT WE'RE WEARING: Orchard Visit
Fall is finally here. And aside from everything pumpkin spice, it means cozy sweaters, crisp leaves, busting out your boot collection, and, best of all, apple orchards.
Last weekend, to celebrate our first anniversary, my husband and I headed out to Pleasant Valley Orchard in Taylors Falls. Not only is it a wonderful orchard with an awesome selection of apples, but there's also a pumpkin patch. That's my kind of two-for-one.
It was a lovely day and we were able to pick as many Haralson (excellent for baking, very juicy and tart) and Honeycrisp (a Minnesota favorite). Of course while leaving with bags of apples and every intention of baking at least four different apple desserts, the best part of apple picking is the picking part.
You have to be picky after all. One bad apple spoils the whole bunch, right? By the end of the afternoon, if you've done it right, you'll like you are an honest-to-goodness apple connoisseur. It's best to give yourself plenty of time and take in all the autumnal splendor that is an apple orchard, and of course, take a silly amount of photos.
When picking out what to wear on your fun fall date, bear in mind that like most fun outdoor activities, apple picking can be a little messy. And because we live in Minnesota, it's anyone's guess as to what the weather will be like. My outfit, even without the scarf, was a little warm for the 70°+ day. But like any good Minnesotan, I know that layers are key. A scarf, simple sweater, go-to black jeans, loafers, and ridiculously large sunglasses were some key ingredients to the perfect outfit.
And what is fall if not a time for fun, extra accessories? Here's some of my favs!
