WHAT WE'RE WEARING: Easter Edition
Easter is the perfect time to take out your favorite spring dress.
I often think that we need to wear bright, spring colors for Easter since it falls mid spring and florals start popping up like daisies, but there are so many options to choose from when selecting your Easter wear. This dark green dress I got from a local shop is the perfect example. It is heavy enough to keep me warm during the unpredictable Minnesota spring weather, but still has the green tones to it to make it feel like spring and new growth.
Of course, we picked brightly colored dresses as well to highlight the festive colors you can choose for your Easter wear. Yellow and green seem ideal because of the association with new flower growth, the peeps that you can eat on Easter morning, and spring in general.
Florals can be a great choice for Easter because they are also representative of spring. The blue dress that I highlighted below is what I wore for Easter two years ago but still feels like the perfect piece to wear for a more formal Easter occasion, like Church service.
Naturally, I also had to add a jumpsuit because I love jumpsuits. This nude, cold shoulder one is sublime, something to show off and show up for the Easter weekend because, while still light and springy, it isn't being overtly floral or pastel. It's a more modern take on what you might have worn in the past. The cold shoulders are also very on trend right now (see the fashion week reviews for confirmation here and here).
And a few others I found while I was out shopping. I love both of these because the one on the left is understated and elegant without being too formal while the one on the right is bright and has a beautiful cut (note: this photo does not do it justice).
You also need the perfect accessory so why not hats? You do not need a Philip Treacy to feel glamorous (though it would not hurt). Just head to your local milliner and find a light and bright piece to add to your ensemble. You can probably even reuse it for Kentucky Derby parties (if you are in to that sort of thing).
I tend to wear my pearls or my silver jewelry with my Easter wear because they are much more light and, again, give me that feel of spring. Ultimately, choose the accessories that feel most you. Be comfortable in what you are wearing and rock it like a star; that confidence is sure to shine through.
One item in particular that we're both loving is this blue skirt from Zara. As we've noticed from the New York, Paris, and Milan Fashion Weeks, light blue is a huge trend right now. For the Easter Edition, we paired with a simple white top, nude pumps, straw hat, Mikimoto pearl studs, and a fun pop of color with a yellow clutch. Take a look next week as we transition this fun skirt from an Easter outing to a summer afternoon on the town.
