UPCYCLING: Easter to Day Wear
If you are like me, you will use any holiday as an excuse to purchase new clothes. It's Easter. I need a new spring dress, obviously. Now that you have worn the perfect Easter dress, it is time to make it fit into your day to day wear. Many of the dresses/jumpsuits we chose for Easter can easily be recycled into your regular day wear. As an example, the nude jumpsuit (which I wore for Easter service) I also wore to a wedding and intend on wearing to work.
I wear the green dress to work consistently. It is a wonderful material and a classic fit. With some easy accessories and nude pumps, it is the perfect dress for work.
The focus of the post though is that gorgeous blue skirt. Seriously, what is not to love. We decided the best possible accessories to transition to day-wear were neutrals to give it a warm and springy feel. The difficult part in transitioning this to day-wear is not to make it too formal. The skirt itself is long and flowing yet structured with sharper lines. If we were to pair it with say, a white frill blouse, it would still be very formal.
To keep it a bit more casual, we paired the skirt with a scoop neck hardy stripe tee, the perfect spring shirt. A simple silver necklace adds just a touch of femininity to the overall look and it complements the neck line of the shirt wonderfully.
Of course, we next need all of the accessories to make this outfit complete. In the words of a wonderful shop owner we know, you should always add one more thing before you leave. For shoes, there are a variety of options. We chose these nude pumps because they make the legs look longer (which is always wonderful because we are both slightly vertically challenged).
The neutral bag is from Madewell and a staple of most of Lisa's outfits. It pairs perfectly with the nude pumps and the overall ensemble to give a spring feel without being too overbearing. Not to mention, it is the perfect size for all of the items you need. She even carries the folio we use for all of the blog planning in it. Best. Bag. Ever.
Next, we need the sunglasses. It is bright after all. These large frames add just a touch of chic to the overall outfit to make for a perfect Easter to day-wear transition. Sunglasses are also simply a wonderful addition to your daily outfits. I hate when I am at brunch, sitting outside and enjoying the sun, but it is just burning my retinas and I cannot see the lovely people I am eating with. For some reason, it makes me absolutely furious and then I also make this really awful squinting face like a little rat. Seriously... just bring the sunglasses. They go with everything and are always useful.
We also cannot forget a hat. We love hats and these particular hats have a wonderful story. We both have a hat (such as below) from when we were working together and wanted to take lemonade breaks to get outside during the summer. Naturally, we also had to have the perfect hat to go with out break time so we both found a straw summer hat we loved and just like that, it is our go-to wear for the spring and summer. Did I mention that we love hats?
