FRIDAY FEATURE: What We're Loving
As I am sure many of you have noticed, we have a What We're Loving Section on our page.
This is where we keep an archive of all of the things that we are currently loving. We figured it was time to explain some of our choices before we change them out for the spring.
FEMME: Women's Ready to Wear Fashion
Most of the pieces that we chose were from Spring/ Summer collections or new collections being released by up and coming designers. A few of my true favorites are the Cocoon Jacket, made with fabric scraps taken from the fashion industry to reduce waste, and the Hackwith Design sweater cape... because it is a sweater cape. What is there not to love?
Each of these pieces can be mixed and matched to create stylish outfits that will transition well from late winter to spring and some even to summer (looking at you sailor pants). We try to focus on pieces that are trendy and yet classic enough to be worth the investment. Many of these pieces are also on sale now for 30 % off (or more) so it is the perfect time to add them to your wardrobe. Unfortunately, some are no longer available but we will have some new features soon to replace these lost loves.
HEALTH AND BEAUTY
In this section, we focused on the monster that is trying to manage your hair and skin in the cold and windy winter and spring. In Minnesota, there is so much wind that we have constant static (literally constant) and feel like our faces are breaking. The Bumble and Bumble products (shampoo, conditioner, finishing spray, and masque) keep our hair looking healthy while reducing static. They also smell delightful which is an added bonus. Use the masque once per week to tame frizz and keep your hair hydrated. Follow with the shampoo and conditioner.
I have very straight hair and the finishing spray even helps to add a little volume (shout out to my hair stylist Coley for the suggestions on the hair care products. Without them, I would probably have to wear my hair up every single day December - April).
For skin care, we visited a local boutique for a few recommendations from a former nutritionist who specializes in skin care products. I also have an in with Khiels but we will leave that out for the moment. The concentrates are used once a week for added moisture to keep the skin from cracking. I make sure to follow with moisturizer. With my skin being particularly dry in the winter months, I use the Magic Dry Ice by Arcona because it is designed for parched skin. When I am not feeling as dry, I use the Ultra Facial Cream. If you only get one, get the Khiels Ultra Facial Cream. It works wonder.
Make sure to wash your face and remove your make up daily. With the dry skin in the winter, I use the Arcona Kiwi Cream Bar because it does not suck the moisture out and yet provides a deep enough clean that I never break out. Once per week, I use the Microdermabraision scrub to keep my skin looking fresh and healthy. Before bed, I remove my make up with the Micellar water (a micelle is basically a small, spherical shaped molecule that forms around dust. This is basically a really gentle face soap that feels just like water).
I tend to not get break outs but my husband does. When this occurs, we use the deep cleaning astringent. The salicylic acid will really dry out your skin but it works wonders to get rid of problem skin. Follow with moisturizer. It also burns a little bit (in a good way) so be prepared.
For the rest of the body, I love the Lipikar Lait Body Milk. While going to school in France, I fell in love with La Roche Posay for their cheap and effective skin care products. I have a bottle of this lotion everywhere. Both bathrooms at home. One in my car. One at my desk in the lab. I would probably bath in it if I could.
Look for all of these products and even more (homme - men's fashion and the accessories to pair with your lovely skin and hair and fabulous new clothes) in the What We're Loving section for a link of where to purchase them!
