WEEKLY WRAP UP: June 4-10
It has been a few weeks since we last posted a weekly wrap up, but there were a few events from this past week that we did not want to miss.
The Volez, Voguez, Voyaguez Louis Vuitton exhibit is closing this next week in Tokyo. The exhibit traces the history of Louis Vuitton from its founding in 1854 to the couture house. It has been traveling the world since its initial opening at the Grand Palais in December of 2015. Click this link at the bottom to check out or purchase to album of the exhibit. It is amazing.
The Spring 2018 Menswear collections were presented in London. There will be an entire post on this tomorrow so look forward to that!
The We Wear Culture event launched in New York which focuses on using technology to explore the couture collections and costumes held in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Google hosted the event and used their technology to offer an in depth view of the conservation efforts related to the pieces held in their permanent collection using Virtual Reality. Their technology also allowed for exploration of the history of fashion, from the silk road to the garments of Versailles to the great American couturier, Charles James.
