THROWBACK THURSDAY: Bridal Shower Tea

THROWBACK THURSDAY: Bridal Shower Tea

Bridal Shower Sign

Before we got married, I had the honor of having not one but two bridal showers. Much of my family does not live near where we were getting married so we had elected to have a bridal shower the same day as the rehearsal for the wedding so that my family could be included.

I was also fortunate in that I had two honor attendants, my sister as the Maid of Honor and Lisa as the Matron of Honor, as well as two very helpful bridesmaids who were willing to take the lead and organize the bridal shower tea. Early on in the process of planning our wedding, I had said that I did not want an insane bachelorette party or bridal shower. I just wanted a simple afternoon with my some of my favorite people that was still nice and elegant, but not over the top.

Bridal Shower

They settled on a bridal shower tea that we hosted at our house in the early afternoon before the rehearsal. This worked well because everyone could carpool from my house to the rehearsal and from there to the grooms dinner. My grandparents also both got to attend which they thoroughly enjoyed.

Since we were having a tea, the bridesmaids chose cheese and fruits for the spread. This was also perfect because cheese is probably my favorite food and I had been paleo up until that day in preparation for the wedding. They also had an assortment of pastries and sandwiches that were all incredible. I ate so much I was worried about trying to be packed into my wedding dress the next day.

They decorated with beautiful floral bouquets in teapots so that they were consistent with the theme. No only did they tie in well with the theme, but they smelled wonderful and we got to come home to them when we returned after our wedding weekend (to this day, James and I have not gone on our honeymoon because well... science calls).

The bridal shower tea was the perfect mix of casual and elegant. I was able to enjoy all of the delicious snacks and spend time with the people that I care about most. In order to fit with the theme of the event, I wore a millennial pink midi length skirt and a white pussy bow blouse with the pearls my future husband had given me the day before. It perfectly matched the theme and was adorable to wear to our rehearsal dinner.
