As we have mentioned before, we get weekly breakfasts to catch up on ideas for the blog and the events of our lives. This morning, we went to a new location called Vicinity Coffee. It has been open in Minneapolis since 2011 (though it was rebranded) and they now successfully operate two locations: one in Uptown and one in South Minneapolis in the up-and-coming area on Nicollet Avenue. We elected to go to the Nicollet Avenue location because that is also where pastries are served (the best possible breakfast).
We got there early, before the kitchen opened, and opted to get their house-made chai tea (the measure of any good coffee shop because they can be quite difficult to find a truly delicious chai) and a regular latte (a personal favorite). We paired the drinks with an almond croissant and got to our morning routine of discussing work and planning upcoming events/projects. The almond croissant was light and fluffy yet still slightly sticky and sweet (the way that I love them).
The drinks were incredible. The chai is one of the best in the city. Given that this is my personal favorite drink in the fall (I crave them when it starts to get chilly and the leaves begin to change), it was the perfect confection for discussing pre fall collections and ideas. The latte was also wonderful and one of the better few that I have had. Both came decorated in beautiful designs, a wonderful expression of creativity and taste.
Once the kitchen opened, we also shared a jalapeno popper quiche with hashbrowns that was just delightful. We are a fan of jalapeno popper anything and a quiche is one of the best breakfast foods around.
Overall, we truly adored this wonderful and modern coffee shop in an up-and-coming area of Minneapolis. There is also a location on Lyndale Avenue and we think anyone and everyone should try it out!
