THE DESIGN STUDIO: AW17 Concepting
As I am sure some of you are aware, we at Sophie the Blog make clothes in addition to speaking about all of the wonderful things we love about clothing. With that in mind, we are working on a few new upcoming projects we wanted to share with our lovely community. These are all pieces you can look forward to see on The Design Studio posts in the coming months!
For the fall, we are making a series of wool coats. The reason that I say a series is because I always have something very specific in mind but the idea always changes. I love structured, tailored pieces but often, once I see them made, I want something with more motion and more fluidity. This shell coat offers just enough movement and space to fit a wonderful oversized sweater underneath and pair with the perfect cigarette pants and booties.
Besides the warm winter coats we are looking to make, there are a few dress ideas that we have in mind. These are not for a certain fashion show we are planning (for more information, subscribe to our newsletter), but are instead for events that we have planned in the fall. This particular one reminds me of the dancing lady emoji on iPhones which has been having a moment in the recent fashion scene. I imagine it in a deep rich burgundy and love the idea of a flowing dress for fall.
What is fall without a few great trousers? There are a number that we have in mind for the coming months, but here is just one that will be making an appearance on the blog in the future. These are the basic trousers every woman should have in her wardrobe. They can be used for work or for pleasure. The most important thing is that they fit properly so that they flatter instead of drowning you. These are our idea of a perfect pair of trousers for fall.
The #Girlboss Suit
Skirts are a wonderful way to add a little femininity to any look. I have interviews for programs and am in need of some new work clothes so I thought it was the perfect time to create my ideal suit. I love the lines on blazers that tilt in to accentuate the waist. I also think it creates a more feminine silhouette. The skirt adds to those same lines to convey a sense of power and elegance all at once.
Follow along on The Design Studio posts in the coming months to watch the progress of all the pieces as they go from drawings to creations!
