WHAT WE'RE WEARING: Sweater Weather
With the cooler months coming, we have started to transition to our fall wear which includes all of those lovely warm sweaters. While we cannot always rock a miniskirt in the middle of winter (at least not in Minnesota) sweaters are sure to be our best friends for fall and winter.
I have gathered many amazing sweaters over the years and love to pair them with everything from black skinny jeans to pencil skirts to a dress for work. It is really all about the accessories (and the shoes) to determine how your sweater is going to work.
Layer a sweater over the top of a sheath dress for a look that is sleek and sophisticated while still keeping that warm autumn feeling. A blue leather belt will keep the line of the outfit flattering on your waist and make it look a little bit more interesting. It also tied it well together with the navy dress that I am wearing. The dress is from Banana Republic and the sweater is from Mona Williams in the Mall of America (if you have never been there, you really need to check it out. It is amazing). I really loved the pink in addition to the blue to add a little bit more color. The shoes are Cole Haan.
This is the easiest one. It is the fall outfit that we all gravitate to. Layer a sweater with some easy skinny jeans and a great pair of boots. You can never go wrong. I always like to add a scarf which is both comfortable and adds some color to my otherwise monochromatic wardrobe. This wonderful scar is from Faribault Woolen Mills who has the best wool scarves for fall and winter. The sweater is from Primp and of course, the jeans are Zara. I topped it off with Aquitalia boots to tie everything together and keep me chic at school.
For a Night Out
You want to go for something a little sexier than plain skinnys and a large sweater. Work in some moto pants with heels for a dazzling look that is easy to pull off. I got this amazing pair at Zara. The shoes are from Cole Haan so my feet are always happy even with a lot of walking.
Add a little color with some bright lipstick - red is a wonderful hue for the autumn months and adds a little spice. Likewise, some gold accessories keep the feeling of the season and add a little bit more visual interest.
If you are looking to transition an outfit from the office to a happy hour with coworkers, opt for a pencil skirt with a slim, straight line and a great comfy sweater.
